They've actually kept selling the merch over in Japan and the '98 design as a design is incredibly popular still which is cool!

Also when they had them square off in the comics (they later team up with the rest of earth's monsters to kill aliens) it was dope.

Memes aside I also have a huge love for King Kong. Didn't grow up with it per-say but the 2006 movie, the game and the 2017 Skull Island (as well as the 1933 original) are some of my faves.

Also it has to be said King Kong inspired Godzilla in part (as with a lot of movies and directors of that time) and that's a big part of why Toho wanted to do the 1962 crossover, as a sign of respect.

I'll never get over how fucking horrendous and tacky the suit was though. I don't know why it was so bad. Like I love the movie but jesus christ.

Still holds the record for me for the longest movie I ever watched in the cinema.

I think only one or two other movies have come close to it in runtime since 2006 that I've watched.
