Except for the inaccuracies in uniform / equipment (Tigers in 1940 triggered me), I think this opening is probably one of the best things Dice has done, a far cry from the reveal trailer.

I think it sums up the nuances of the war, the anxieties and the scope of it rather neatly. I like how it ties in the fruitlessness of the Great War and the brutality of the Second World War.

13:55 to the end I think is a great moment, especially from the BF series.

Idk man you seem to be completely misrepresenting the facts here.

60,000 isnt necessarily a small contingent.

I am no Wehraboo but the fact the paratroopers were able to take the Island with half the men the Allies had and zero armour support - especially given the fact their equipment was scattered (typical German logistics) whilst only taking 6000 casualties (Brits took 22,000 casualties) itself is impressive and not something to be scoffed at.

Although as Beevor highlights in his book a lot of this was down to Commonwealth incompetence.

Thoughts gamers?

Except for the inaccuracies in uniform / equipment (Tigers in 1940 triggered me), I think this opening is probably one of the best things Dice has done, a far cry from the reveal trailer.

I think it sums up the nuances of the war, the anxieties and the scope of it rather neatly. I like how it ties in the fruitlessness of the Great War and the brutality of the Second World War.

13:55 to the end I think is a great moment, especially from the BF series.

why did they make a whole campaign dedicated to 2 norwegian lesbians but not one for the like 25 million chinese that died on the far eastern front

Though tbh it is pretty funny that everyone but the Germans thought Crete was a massive victory, even encouraging the Americans into investing into airborne infantry as much as they did whereas the krauts got rid of their paratroopers

Classic krauts

the AI in singleplayer is fucking laughable and really ruins the experience imo

I've only watched up to the 1:10 mark, and although I slated the game off for their whole 'forget what you learnt in history class' stunt I think it already looks great.

Something that seems to have lost a lot of attention in recent years is Medieval history. I will always like studying it, but for some reason I don't think most people these days are interested in it anymore. Maybe WW2 has taken the wheel?
I took units in Old English and Old Norse because of it, and that was pretty enjoyable.

people will always be more interested in ww2 than anything older than that, probably because of the sheer scale of the conflict, how recent it was, and the consequences of it

i'm not really that interested in ww2 history though, everything is so oversaturated with it

100 years ago. An armistice was signed.

'They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them' - Laurence Binyon
