I've had a similar theory for a while, where Jamie kills Cersei after going further mad queen. The idea being that Jamie knew he was doing the right thing when he killed the mad king, but everyone vilified him for it. In this, he'd feel he's doing the wrong thing (killing the woman he loves / loved), but the people would love him for it. A whacky turnt-on-its head situation.
