Hey nebulous people.

With all the HLX(3) datamining happening over the past year and the recent talks about a possible trailer happening soon, I thought I’d make a thread about it

I’ve been thinking about an idea for when HL3 eventually releases. It could be the perfect opportunity to create an “ending iteration” of the hl2rp server. The concept would be to return to a traditional cityrp setting, but picking up exactly where we left off in Helix 1 (or even earlier iterations). The same major events would unfold and the same story beats would re-emerge, except with a new twist.

This time, the Vortiguants faction will be explored much more as we would introduce future-reading through the vortessence, performed by them. The way this would work is that certain characters, specifically well known or influential ones from that era of the server, could apply for a special whitelist. If accepted, their characters would retain foreknowledge of upcoming events through the vortessence, allowing them to subtly guide or influence the unfolding of the storyline.
But in doing so, this would attract the presence of the Combine Advisors, as they can sense the vortessence and try to interfere with it, giving these players false memories that lead them to act in completely different ways. This would create uncertainty, and major events could happen again like Enmity or Borealis, but this time experienced from a different perspective.
As these characters start influencing events, the Combine Advisors would gradually become aware of them. Advisors would begin hunting for those responsible for “disrupting” the timeline

How this would work in the server is that instead of major events being announced publicly on the forums, they would be communicated by the selected players through organized meetings with faction leaders or through posters scattered around the sewers. The staff will (sort of) play the role of Combine Advisors, handing information to these selected players and informing them of what is about to unfold. However, the players will not know whether these 'visions' are true. They will only deliver the information to others

We get to relive those moments again however this time they end up unfolding in a totally different way depending on how players interpret the visions, how factions react, and how much the Combine tries to sabotage the “future-reading.” I believe it would be a great way to end HL2RP for Nebulous.

what do you think? is this possible? It’s not very well detailed but it’s just a concept idea that came to my mind.

Kinda what some of what HELIX 4 was building up too at certain points. I have been overseeing the development of my Post Occupation gamemode After-Life although personal matters keep causing me to pause development. First half of next year is looking like I may have to go without internet for a good while and got laid off back in the summer. So has been a lot of monkey wrenches. But if that all could be cleared up then I'd continue the development of After-Life.

I meant after the After-Life iteration ends (if it does even happen)
