Continuing drama even after his posts were removed

How long?

A week. It would have been less but he had just gotten banned for starting drama a few days ago

This entire drama is pointless though - it was a meme. If Alex can leave up attacks in the sidebar to let people cool off and calm down, removing the meme and banning people is just going to piss everyone off again. I don't think two bans and drama (again) is worth leaving a meme that'll get a few Nebs and be forgotten a page over anyway.

Yeah I had that stance until it kept happening every day

And is this better? Because this isn't gonna cool the drama off, it'll just upkeep the cycle and piss people off more - and its dragging people into it who legitimately aren't doing anything. You know that deletions and bans over what is functionally a meme isn't gonna make people go "Ah, yeah, he's right to ban for that".

Again, if it was a meme every now and again I'd be fine with it. However, when we're getting shit for a decision we've made and the same topic gets brought up over and over again in the form of worthless memes while simultaneously saying "we should be more serious about these issues" is a bit of a joke. The intent is clear

In that case though - why didn't we see bans for the few profile posts earlier in the day? Or the offhand comments? Yeah people, like with any situation, are gonna comment on it for a while until the train runs out of steam. A meme is harmless. It'll get a few Nebs and be left.

What /won't/ be left is banning several people and igniting it all over again. This is dragging people into it who shouldn't be dragged into it and shouldn't be lumped in with actions like this. C'mon, you know that this isn't gonna do good. We'll just have a round two of "spend the night banning and deleting" over one meme.

all people want is transparency to know why things happen, and the ability to meme about those things happening

when BQ explained it people calmed down, and when you attempt to suppress people memeing, that just encourages more to join in with it

All posts can't be monitored - there are simply too many. People can make their comments and criticize our choices, that's fine. When it's presented in a manner whose sole purpose is to bring up the situation in order to push your own opinion, then it becomes an issue.

Let's not forget that these "memes" have also included personal attacks (posting personal images, calling people slurs) by the same few people. This kind of behaviour isn't something that is needed on the forums
