There is no point in issuing permabans if we're going to overturn them 2 months later. BQ is (and always has been) free to step in and disagree with my opinion on it but if someone is permanently banned and they want an unban, it's uncommon to have no higher staff input on the unban.

@MaXenzie he mass rdm'd. there are people (angus rude and zigbomb) who have rdm'd less people and are still banned from the server. It's literally only been 3 months, hell, even less than that.

Despite this, is it still resonable to keep Jaf permabanned now that he was told he'd be unbanned?

Jaf did what he did in anger but he chose to ruin the experience of other players. He admits he wanted a ban, he got it. I'm sure if BQ disagreed with the perma then he would've lowered it a long time ago.

@DoubleD Exactly. Permabans are usually either very lengthy or they stay banned (as you know from previous staffing) and if we start issuing permabans as "2 months" then nobody will care about ruining other player experiences.

I abstained from Jaf's attempts at appealing since I don't believe I'm the best person to handle it.

I left it down to others to handle, that's all I gotta say on it.

I think Jaf deserves a 2nd chance at some point as I do with majority of others, but I don't want the decision to be left to me because I don't believe I'm the best person to handle it

case by case basis, the guy was stoked to play on the server and roleplayed well when I saw him icly.

I'm not sure how often the ban appeals team are responsible for dealing with permanent bans but I'm pretty sure they would usually go through the proper channels for bans like that which wasn't the case here.

at least give him a solid date to appeal the ban

alex no offense but you didn't seem that totally interested in the ban till they were accepted. It was up for a while and it wasn't necessary the most malicious player around.

I believe Jaf was told he could attempt an appeal after X amount of time, I'm not sure how long that was but it wasn't 2 months.
