no one gives a shit about serious rp? The crowds just not much for it, they go “ahh kino events” but that’s all they rock for and show up, some DnD esque system cause the current roleplay of just shooting the shit doesn’t work for them.

it’s a serious discussion kinda thing I get the memes but I feel people are just disconnected from actually roleplaying and just memeing

Got anything particular in mind?

Yeah but issue is if u rp human flaws people use that to fuck you up and get an advantage

friendly nailed one of my issues, either cops who take injuries and mental strain from the occupation as a chance to follow rules, or even blanket threats from rebel crew chiefs to be offended. This has gone on for years.

People make fun of circlejerks but people can’t reasonably rp when they’re uncomfortable of the other guys ooc persona or utilization of your weaknesses of wanting to rp a good character for him to abuse or pk.

ww3rp had the issue of being not really serious in general, hl2 I'd say has more a problem with being too much of a competition to get anywhere fun hence people want to hold onto what they have to the death at the risk of doing anything interesting

yeah I had fun being a shitty corrupt cop but it also took me like three weeks to get into a position where I could do anything interesting with it, most people don't have that level of dedication to something they'd be fine with just throwing away at the end

I can imagine it's worse being a rebel since in my experience if you don't have inside connections good fucking luck for the next few months

there's a risk/reward system but the "reward" (good rp, having fun) isn't "tangible" for enough people to give a shit or play it bogart

I also might wager a lot of the regulars have been playing for years and are burnt on ideas or just too caught up in the OOC meta to really get into their characters anymore, I know that happened to me
Akula
Akula
treating characters as more extensions of themselves and pursuing things by OOC reasoning rather than making a character their own thing with their own desires/ways of dealing with things

there's also the tendancy to "play by the rules" to the absolute letter, only doing things that adhere to the OOC ruleset regardless of what IC sense it makes
Akula

i.e "you said something that any real person would shrug off but because the rules said that gives me PK auths I'm going to blow your head off" or whatever

can’t really respond constructively cause busy but yeah that’s one of the big issues, or a good explanation of some. It’s just not enjoyable, I knew you got miffed when you came for heavy snow and tried to rp and got s2ked

when you see a vortigaunt 20km away and suddenly you're on the respawn screen

tbh hot take but the RP I had on old ww3rp was a hundred times better than 99% of the stuff I've done on HL2RP

it's just that the rp on ww3rp was absurdly rare and predicated on you meeting the two other people who were also looking for it

I guess it's the difference between eating gruel every day or having a gourmet meal once or twice a month
