There should ideally be a reasonable proportion in terms of government employees to civilians. Having too many govt employees in comparison to civilians is just kinda weird and leads to an over inflation of govt employee numbers. If there's 8 people on the server, 6 of them shouldn't be PD and EMS.

I'm not set on the numbers, but there should be like one cop and one EMS for every two civilians as an example. If there's too many cops and not enough civs, they can't sign on duty and have to go do civilian things.

There should be a maximum number of police that are allowed to respond to the same call so you don't get chased by the entire server

Maybe scale it based on # of people or vehicles being chased.

Have you seen the size of Police chases in the US? You know the risk.

This is already kind of a thing. Higher ups will instruct excess units not to respond.

if all of the police are chasing one dude, take it as a sign to commit crime wantonly and freely, knowing they're wasting their time on a single dude miles away from you.

As Warwick mentioned, this is already the case. It just so happened we had a healthy amount of people as cops today, and we weren't really presented with the issue of over-responding in the last the three days. Especially since in the last three days, the two or three cruisers you saw patrolling were often the only cops online; most likely one cop per cruiser too.

More dangerous calls especially. It is making solo patrols a lot more difficult and dangerous. The other day there was a solo cadet that received a series of lead their way after trying to intervene in a carjacking attempt.

Honestly we are being overwhelmed most of the time, since a lot of cop work is actually just paperwork, sometimes I have to spend 20-30 minutes just typing reports at the PD. And most of the time we do not even have the manpower for the amount of crime that can happen in the city!

I can't wait until EMS get their version of the MDT called Patient Management System (PMS Lol because GTA pun)

I really dont like the idea of restricting when people can go on-duty or not. being chased by the whole server is pretty funny and fun, simply get away
If this guy can do it so can everyone else

just get a guy to shoot nothing in the middle of nowhere with a hunting rifle while you break into a bank

easy free eight minutes without a police response

There are limits in place so the whole police force isn’t going to respond to 1 report or pursuit. Some cops are still adjusting to how it works, radio communication and guidelines are still being learnt.

just speaking for myself when I made the thread my mind wasn’t really on the # of units on a chase (this is more of an SOP thing anyway) but it was just more about a general thing of having way more cops and EMS than there are civilians milling about and the idea that it’d be nice to see and encourage more off-duty time when there’s times of population imbalance.

What's this "Off-Duty" you speak of? Is it some kind of salad dressing? I'm afraid there is only terminally On-Duty.

I don't think we'll be implementing a cap on active officers anytime soon, however we do try to limit units responding to the same call depending on the severity; obviously you can't expect a 4 cop limit to an officer down call.
