Suggestion:
Add a scoped variant to the Mosin/KAR93 bolt action rifles.

Why it would be worth adding:

Both exist, and means that people/event characters can use a scoped rifle that doesn't have glaring balancing issues (long range & semi-auto capability) when fighting others.

A bolt action is slow to fire, very slow to reload, almost impossible to pin someone down with sustained fire and certainly not easy to acquire ammunition for.
Contrast that to an SVD that acts as a long range semi-automatic death machine if it's used by anyone with half a brain and good ping.

Necessary content:
KAR93 / Mosin scoped variants that come with the existing (original) weapons.

Scoped weapons are in a very grey bad area already with the existence of vortigaunts
Nobody likes instantly dying to a guy 5000 miles away that you can't see in one shot, we stretch it enough with instant death kill beams as it is and while the existence of the combine sniper is a thing, it's utterly restricted to the usage of a faction leader currently

It's why I hope that despite Crossbows being an actual weapon not many are handed out for very, very good reasons.

Considering that cops already have a bunch of mosins/other rifles, it's not a far stretch that some will inevitably filter down to them.

Cops have a very few, but I do not think this suggestion is a good idea currently, perhaps later on when we move further down the line as we get closer to the combines "Encirclement at Berlin." Status, just not right now.

Same applies to snipers on the OTA side, albeit they have them big blue lasers, but still

As I said, there is only 2 sniper on the OTA currently, one used by sky, our faction leader and one by Numbers, the server director, High powered weaponry at long range is problematic the more of it you add, the tragic condition of balance with such a weapon I am afraid.

considering the SVD is in use with a lot of event characters to do things long range, all the more reason these get added, if only for balance for their situations.

I'm sure you remember @TommyGman holding off 10 cops by himself.

That """ event"" only serves to highlight the problem of a person camping up on a four-story building 1 tapping cops with high powered long range weapons, he got in trouble for that.

Cop weapon balance is that while we get a primarily bigger and replenishable stockpile of weapons then the rebels do, it's limited to the MP7, MP5, and the USP, any rifles along with the ammo we had to get off captured/dead rebels

The only way this would work if you oocly hand-picked certain people on the rebel side for these types of weapons so they don't abuse it to the point of utter oppression which goes against the "factionless" FREE HAND OF THE MARKET approach that rebels like

Maybe further down the line when most of the faction is elevated to grunts with 120/120 and a few more phase 2, I can see Lamba giving regular joe his RPG+spas combo but we just simply ain't there yet,

clockwork and early helix precidents are long dead, honestly

I've seen plenty of people sharing stuff to get by, even weapons and ammo much more freely than they wouldn't have in older iterations.

anyone stupid enough to waste their very, very limited ammo (you can't craft it for these rifles & they come in a box of 10) on shooting cops for thrills is likely to die very shortly, especially when you consider the map fog requires them to get very close.

exactly, he had a scoped semi-auto weapon with range.

if it was bolt action me or @Simman102 would have been able to actually kill him long before we pushed up with the feint.

By those precedents I was more referring to admin-enforced weapon hands outs, IE this person gets an RPG because he isn't a fucking dumpster head who is going to go out 2 seconds later to shoot the CUMBEAN base.

I'm not against this entirely I am just trying to give some of the poor USP 25s some leeway because they already have to suffer enough as it is with vortigaunts GULANG'D

This all comes down if they're actually a thing to be added if they decided that it is so be it, I just hate "Sniper/scope" meta because that's what everybody will pick if given the option

i think they were kept unscoped for a reason, we dont need more powerful items that i have to limit staff from spawning

svd, m40a1, combine sniper dominate as is. theres a whole faction that spawns with long range swep, we need less long range singleshot shit

could we at least get a scoped garand then?

one comes with the addon that the garand is from (no bloat necessary), it's complete dogshit damage-wise, has an eightround capacity & the range of a BB gun. much less of a problem if people wind up with those than SVDs.

middle ground between shit (this) and god-tier one shot rifles that evaporate anything (everything else we have).
