Hi everyone, I've got two and a half years of HL2RP under my belt. Currently, I've only played in one community. The server I'm playing at right now has become a little stale to me after so many different characters. As a result of stagnation and having trouble coming up with anything new, I thought I'd just have a go at another random community.

The majority of characters I've played have been units.

I've had a squad leader, intelligence unit, as well as many other units. Now, I don't know if intelligence units are considered 'cringey' or not in this community, but I can guarantee I'm a decent role player.

I have next to no idea how this server operates, Reading some of the threads regarding complaints and suggestions it's evident this server is at least a little bit different than my last. Are there any rules on this server that are nonstandard?

I'd appreciate if some of y'all could reach out to me on steam or the forums. It never hurts to get to know people!

I forgot to put this in my main post, but I've got a few questions about rules.

  • Ass-pulling weapons/objects (minor objects such as watches etc are fine) This includes 'handcrafted' masks used to hide ones identity
  • Metabaiting
  • Voiding a situation requires a senior administrator’s approval, same with heavy alterations of character descriptions
First, regarding the Ass-pulling weapons clause. In my previous server the majority of people would just roleplay having knives. As for one getting knives was either done through black market flags, or through admins. They were in short OOC supply, but high in IC supply. Therefore a lot of people just pretended they had them. Of course, this sounds scary and potentially abusable, but you could generally tell who did and who didn't actually have knives. I mean it would be feasible for a character to just get some sort of shank with an hour or two worth of work. Prisoners in real life high-security prisons can make them in the most monitored conditions. I feel to some degree this is obnoxious, am I breaking the rule by having a consistent roleplay knife on me? Should I instead contact an admin and say 'hey can I get a knife I've roleplayed my character having one'. That or just get their consent to have it be soley IC, although I'm not sure how big your server is on OOC/IC divide.

What the hell is Metabaiting?

Three, what if both parties with opposite interest agree to retcon roleplay. This seems like an undue burden upon trusted roleplayers.

High Command doesn't exist here

but hi
I've had a confusing time navigating the CCA threads. I'm not sure if what I have found is still relevant to how the CCA operates, as often things change. How is the hierarchy set up? How is their quality control? Another off the path topic is how surveillance is handled on this server. I've heard nightmares on LP/CW servers where if cops even mutter no no phrases their vocoders record it and they die.

you either find an actual knife weapon (which exists in the server iirc) or you get auths from an admin, who will then give you a knife script

there are no ic knives, you need the weapon in your inventory to have the weapon

"why are ota sweeping"

thats metabait

then we end up with pk's becoming "actually nah i want u to live" which has happened several times in the past.

the heirarchy is

all units < dispatch

we have the best quality control in literally any server because the app is on par with a goddamn a-level exam. surveillance is "dont do it in view of cameras and you'll be fine"

pretty sure IC visor cams aren't a thing with cops
no hierarchy what so ever, all cops are under dispatch, rank leaders can exercise some commands but they can ultimately be overruled by dispatch, cops can progress from 00 to 25 to 50 to 75 then to RL if a position is open, application is given etc
