Suggestion:
Throw imminent/upcoming staff plotlines in the event team subforum (they still have one, right?) so everyone's on the same page.

Why it would be worth adding:
Because we literally have a bunch of doctor strangelove-tier lunatics running around who have, to date:

o Blown up a city with a device that was misconstrued as anthrax by the wider team.
o Shown up with a qassam/SCUD truck and nearly triggered three attacks by merely existing for... plot reasons?
o Condemned an entire faction into going along with the whims of a gaggle of two lunatics who exist for literally no other reason than 'muh warcrime' scenarios.

None of which would have happened with clear and concise communication with others of what was happening.

In my opinion, both characters listed don't even deserve the title of 'parody' with their cartoonish hijinks, it's bad enough their brief mere existence has thrown the entire insurgency into murky waters because someone thought Spec Ops: The Line was a good thing to copy right now. They put the random russian mercenaries with tank/gunship support and biosignal monitors to shame, for christ's sake, and they've barely shown up.

Staff and the event team need to be on the same page (or dare I even suggest, work together instead of staff doing their own thing on the fly...?) otherwise these chronic problems are only going to get worse in due time.

Necessary content:
N/A.

Does this a good or a bad of them
I like the core premise, but have no idea why they have biosignals, a whole mercenary company of foreigners or helicopter support when @Subeh drives around in a creaky van.

It probably would have gone down better if these were just disgruntled people who wanted LAMBDA/Cops off their land and were getting funded by the Union or something, it's not like the men at the top ever cared about their cannon fodder (cops).

in an EP2 ERA, where lambda is united and got its shit together
I think the implication is that Eli's death has caused Lambda's leadership to become unstable, especially so when they don't have Gordon Freeman and Alyx Vance at their beck and call (since they disappeared off to Antarctic or smth along those lines). Whatever people are still in charge don't have a unifying figure to keep them in line anymore (Kleiner may be a motivational force as seen in Episode 1, but he's always been shown to be easily pushed around by more assertive personalities), and thus the integrity of said group is slowly unraveling.

ill be frank sinatra

its kinda tough taking rp based events seriously like this one from yesterday, and even more brings me to the point that im playing a video game. in a less and less believeable setting
this aint fiction even anymore,
it just feels like the result of drinking UU branded GIN+VODKA instead of water daily

especially when these random events happen

the outcome, aint bad, NEW
another comfort zone change / break event which means free fun and refreshment BIK PLUS

but the WAY it was done, the LORE, RP CONTEXT, by lambda (being already incompetent simulator to do anything but shoot itself in the foot)
shooting itself AGAIN in the foot?

not only does lambda do almost nothing on a normal basis, but occasional dripfeeding presence (in our ingame experiences)
nor provide any ACTUAL TOOLS, against combine, that already by GAMEPLAY outpower normal rebels, with already tiny limited supplies.

but they come once in a while, to do something goofy
in an EP2 ERA, where lambda is united and got its shit together

wat?

i cant believe that lambda can be this braindead, after playing proper half life 2
here its like
you cant even word it

i feel like im experiencing dementia again
now in a form of a game
wasnt lambda

I'm not the one spearheading this event line with the bioweapon, I'm just a helper and character within it, but what I will say, without spoiling its plot very much since I actually do really like the idea, is perhaps that a lot of this anger and annoyance is meant to be taken IC, you're meant to be mad, riled up and maybe this was actually considered, perhaps you really are watching a group of fanatics who parody lambda with weapons of mass destruction at their disposal, how did they get them, how the fuck was this kept hidden, why are they interfering in your affairs under the banner of doing good for the resistance as they put a dent in your plans through their extremism.

There's already a group of rebels going out of their way to seemingly find and track and kill them for their hijinks, and that's good, we've already got plentiful plans and event areas set up to facilitate something like that in the near future, for both cops and rebels to take a piece out of if they wish.

As for the gas itself, it coated about two thirds of the city in a thick fog that is extremely harmful to breathe and sticks to your clothing requiring decontamination afterwards if you don't want to get really sick, just like any gas however it has already started dissipating into the environment and is being carried away by the wind, probably completely gone by tonight. Unfortunately some people on the rebel side heard 'anthrax' and started googling how to deal with it and started hustling everyone indoors and creating insane amounts of panic whilst cops just screwed their filters on and walked through it without a care. For something in Half-Life and how weird and wonderful that series as a whole gets, people do really really really want their bioweapons and WMDs grounded in reality to their extremes.

What actually occurred and has been occurring has been blown so insanely far out of proportion it genuinely feels impossible at times to get everyone on the same page no matter how hard you try, sometimes a plot device is left unsaid so it can be dropped at an appropriate moment as a twist later on or is something meant to be thought about ICly in the realms of the server, but when people don't get every single detail written out for them it gets taken and ran with for miles and miles until the real story just seems like a retcon by the end of it its that tame, it makes storytelling and creating something interesting very difficult and puts a real burn on the staff team's creativity when because the whole storyline doesn't unravel at one singular point people believe there is OOC plotholes that need addressing.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh

u right

le forums side tracked my very thought with the memes as well,

the plot is real cool from this perspective
honestly, a minor ooc reveal like this just feels pleasant to know

icly, despite all the situation of lambda being absent and just, real weird, weak almost, silly,

a sudden giant shlong nuke dirt bomb being launched by a supposed imitators, is real quite something fascinating
i like it

yes tommy, but maybe if there was the slightest bit of communication to anyone about this happening we wouldn’t be here

they arent absent theyve been handling nigh daily resupplies & rpg'd an apc yesterday intruding on the rebel zone

they just dont encroach on the actual rebel leader characters because we're not here to disempower them from making their own decisions for the most part

I think this incident really goes to show how information (or lack thereof) can dictate player feelings immensely. There's no formal summaries for daily events anywhere on the forums, and I don't think people often go around inserver and ask ICly about everything that's happened. I can wholeheartedly say I've likely missed out a lot of key incidents even by going AFK as few as 2-3 times per session.

Perhaps the takeaway from this would be to pool IC knowledge together to keep everyone caught-up on everything that's happened recently. Kind of like the Ørsted Reporter threads made by Deathwolf, only for more day-to-day occurences.

I am an advocate for this if it's orsted or asda etc, a player made information initiative, not staff shitting essay after essay for everything that happens

The fact that the response was "WOW UMMMM THIS SUCKS? BAD WRITING!" and not "gee I wonder why this 'Lambda' rep has twice caused MASSIVE problems for us then bailed despite also regularly supplying us with equipment and information?" says it all tbh.

Like how much do you need to be spoonfed before people starting asking questions or trying to dig?
