Looking to make a new PC build

Hey Folks,

It's time for me to bury my old Inspiron Craptop, which has been broken for a few months, and get back into the desktop market.

If anyone is interested in taking time out of their busy schedule to shoot some ideas of possible PC builds for my budget, I'd gladly appreciate it. I'll be working with around $2000 CAD, plus or minus a few hundred.

I've previously always bought from dell, so I'm new to the whole custom build scene. Go easy on the tech lingo.

It's not critical that I'd be able to play AAA games on maxed setting, but I'd like to hit 60 fps for the most part.

I don't know the prices at your place, but this is a rough estimate.

Go with an Intel i5 Skylake CPU. Any would do, but try to buy the K one (6600K).

For a GPU, you can either get the AMD Radeon RX480 or the Nvidia GTX1060. Either one will do the trick.

Get a 120GB SSD for your C drive and install your OS on it. Preferably only install programs in that drive. Move everything else to other drives, HDD ones preferably (get a Western Digital 1 or 2 TB HDD for games/media/storage). I recommend buying 2 500GB drives and pairing them in RAID 0. This will improve drive performance (read and writes) by roughly 50% and still give you a full TB.

Everything else doesn't matter much. Get a Corsair Power Supply (PSU), they are the most reliable. Cooler Master is a close second.

Do yourself a favor and get an ASUS brand motherboard. They are the leading mobo maker and they make them kickass.

Don't forget to get a compatible case. Fractal Design makes stylish Scandinavian cases who are dead silent.

If you have 2000 dollars to spend then get the gtx 1070 or 1080, I have both right now and they're well worth the money. these cards are for people who want to enjoy maxing any game for years to come
