Yeah, the Underground was D/P/P exclusive.

okay reviving cuz i recently finished my journey of playing all gens and their remakes (except sword and shield cuz man i need a break before starting those) and can now rank them from a mostly unbiased personal experience

so from worst to best, here we go
  • X/Y (by far the slowest feeling yet also easiest, strangely paced and an awful excuse of a story with millions of plotholes)
  • Red/Blue/Yellow (they started which means comparatively theyre mechanically lacking and just frankly have aged poorly)
  • Gold/Silver/Crystal (have aged far better than Generation 1, still old an a lil clunky)
  • Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire (not bad, definetly a step up from X/Y in the same Gen but not as good as their originals)
  • Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald (good, but some of the most linear games in the series alongside all of Gen 5 and Gen 7, still classics otherwise)
  • FireRed/LeafGreen (if you want to play Gen 1 without the alterations that Let's Go made, this is the definitive edition)
  • Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon (theyre really not bad at all, just all the changes they make to the original Sun/Moon completely deflate the experience)
  • Black/White (not as awful as I originally remembered them, at all, theyre very linear but the stellar music, visuals and stories make them must plays anyways)
  • Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee (okay hear me out, these are honestly the best versions of Gen 1. Remastered music, random encounters are gone much like Gen 8, and the artstyle and music is some of the best its been in the 3D games. Controversial, but good)
  • HeartGold/SoulSilver (fuck me I changed my mind, these used to be some of the games I genuinely didnt enjoy but after playing them again, this time on original hardware I was stunned at the quality. Takes everything from the originals, does it better.)
  • Sun/Moon (some of the most loveable characters, memorable story, and interesting legendaries and original Mon's alongside Gen 5)
  • Black/White 2 (the games that make Gen 5 my second favorite, takes the first Black/White, fixes everything that was bad about them, completes the story and makes it even more interesting, and keeps the kickass music, characters and similar, so glad i managed to find a cheap used copy of it)
  • Diamond/Pearl/Platinum (my only real bias shines through here, the top 3 are so close in quality and all of them were equally fun to play through but Gen 4 has the rest beat for me purely because of how its world is designed, how interesting the deeper concepts of the story is and the designs of the legendaries in it)
I'd say if anyone wants to get into the franchise or havent played S/M, B/W or D/P/Pt, just do it, such a good time

Are you sure you played through them properly?
Once you beat the Elite 4 once, a whole bunch of other areas are unlocked with Gen 2 and 3 here and there

well yeah i meant in the base content, post-game is a neat bonus but its still not an alteration to the main game

Based, D/P/P were the shit, amazing games, played countless of hours on it. We need a remake on this gem

Loved the shit out of this game as well, very good and I think underrated, shame the games became 3d after this, I think they do lack a bit of the charm since the 3d doesn't always look good.
