Revolution Game: Should I drop the current story and change it?

Should I drop the game's main plot and just heavily change it to make it a better campaign overall. The characters will still be the same. Doing this would also help me make a better story and have to follow a less strict format and could also help with character development, but would also make it no longer the same as it was originally going to be about exactly what happened in hl2rp.

As the end approached we knew what shit was going to happen pretty much seeing the amount of people.

We come out and we're swarmed by 40 rebels, 20 of them with high-end gear, and like 8 vortigaunts groundpounding like it's brazilian carnival

I dont think it would be likely that I'll have an OTA character, considering an OTA would be hard to develop as a character.
Plus, there is Nikolai who is a CP.
