AMD just dropped what the 3000 series CPUs and specs are with confirmation of the 7th of July release, no 3000 series APUs announced but itll likely be similar to last gen on the previous process (being Zen+ this time around) and announced later in the year
https://www.anandtech.com/show/1440...-cores-for-499-up-to-46-ghz-pcie-40-coming-77
from the looks of it these CPUs are gonna blow Intel out the fucking water, especially on the efficiency front as AMD are far more forthcoming on power consumption and heat generated

AND it’s still using the same socket. Intel can suck me a fat one for changing the socket every year so you had to buy a new mobo
tbh if u have a MOBO for gen1 ryzen they said the new chips are probs gonna fuck up tho

Some manufacturers are saying that it’ll be fine - I’m sure the 8 core chips that have less TDP than their gen 1 equivalent will be fine

Only thing you’ll miss out on is PCI 4 but nothing is using that yet and I’m p sure some mobos will support it through bios updates

closer to 5 gigs a second for read, the top level NVME Corsair announced is something like 4950 on read and 4250 on write, id imagine Samsung are gonna come out with something in the future thatll push it further in both departments though as i believe their SSDs are usually a fair bit ahead of everyone else

the general gist im getting is the 12 core in anything but x570 boards will be a handful board wise, but so long as youve got a strong board with good chipset and VRM cooling 8 core and under should be fine, although only some first gen Ryzen boards will even see Ryzen 3000 support and no A320 board will see support for the CPUs most likely due to chipset issues
and i wouldnt worry about anything consumer market being bottlenecked by 3.0 as an RTX 2080 Ti only gets about 5 or less FPS lost in games using 3.0 8x rather than 16x

funny part is that x570 chipset dropped support for first gen CPUs entirely, i can understand boards not being forwards compatible but i cant find a reason for the lack of backwards compatibility from AMD although im guessing working with 3 separate CPU architechures on one chipset might not work out as well as some people imagine

hoping my b450 can support it but it most likely will

honestly hating on intel rn, they were bathing their balls in money and stagnating progress for cpus in exchange for insane profits
while the first gen ryzen was pretty trash i genuinely hope intel suffers some heavy loses and the competition brings some new shit to the table

rko bump thru the table
Ryzen 3000 releases today plus a gaming benchmark was just released of the Ryzen 5 3600, a $200 6 core 12 thread CPU, against Intel's 8700k, 6 core 12 thread, which sells for $350
the 3600 beats it or equals it in almost every single game despite being $150 cheaper and consuming less power

Don't forget AMD's 3900X with 12 cores at $500 beating Intel's 9920X at $1200

105w vs 165w TDP LOL

i cant wait to see the 3900x and the 3950x demolish both gaming and stress test benchmarks, just seeing this bench mark leads me to believe those two are gonna dominate the prosumer market for the next 2 or 3 years given the extra cores and even higher clock
once the NDA lifts in 7 or 8 hours hopefully we'll see reviews of all the Ryzen 3000 CPUs to see what they can truly do

benchmarks are a bit old but singlethread performance of the R5 3600X is almost identical to the stock i9 9900K

gamers gaming definitely grabbing it the moment its available here

NDA lifted 10 minutes ago, 3700x beats 9900K in CSGO for 150, 200 dollars less, looking at other benchmarks now
e: CSGO benchmark from Linus
