Heya, I am just wondering if there any any army Gas mask collectors in this community.

If so what mask do you consider better PMK-2 or GP-7? Tbh I really love how they look like and I am thinking about getting one for my old Soviet collection.

I mean, they're mostly the same functionally, except the PMK-2 can mount filters on both sides. I guess the PMK-2 is slightly better in that regard, but they both share the same core designs.

You probably know this already but you should be careful about what filters you choose for 40mm GOST threads, considering some have asbestos in them.

Yeah I am well aware of the asbestos filters, but apparently only GP-5 filters had asbestos in them. But any 40mm filter should fit I would say

Yeah just make sure you're getting 40mm GOST, not 40mm NATO.

That or get a hybrid one, something like the FP-5 filters which fit both.

fp5 filters are really good quality and universal, best ones to get if you actually plan on using them

don't recall the name offhand but if you can get legit polish army issue filters those are the best
Should be Easy, Slovakia is right next to Poland so I can just drive there and check out some stores.

guess

PMK simply because of the design. They are also basically the same
GP 7 is just civilian version iirc. And PMK should have just liquid tube added, nothing else.

Don't buy filters that aren't in vacumpacked packages

Yeah that's obvious but I think it's gonna be hard to get 40 mm GOST filter or original GP7 filter. At least non expired.

Don't really collect masks but I've had this French Ajax F2 for a while now.

(Not actually the one I have)

After some research I believe these were issued to civilians and firefighters in the 1920s-1930s in France, although earlier models were used in the First world war. Age has claimed the glass of my one, the two windows being now a piss-yellow colour cos of how badly it was kept in my old man's house. It's just a collection piece though, wearing it for over 15 minutes and taking it off gives you the experience of what being asthmatic is like. Always been tempted to collect more WW2 gas masks and leftover french/US/British helmets at garage-sales, but my apartment doesn't have enough room to store much stuff.

Stuck with this GP-5. No safe filter available other than Polish FP-5s

Anyone got an FP-5 filter??
