guys guys can i hijack the thread real quick

can someone tell me how impractical it would be to buy and maintain the ae86 from initial d??
if you're willing to spend about 20k on a car that can be beaten by a modern hatchback......

it'd be alright, it's a good drift platform and the 4A-GE is a good engine

i mean i don't know anything about cars and im not an enthusiast, so im under the impression that it would be hard to maintain and probably not fuel efficient??

(i don't even drive atm, im just curious)

it is probably quite easy to drive and quite fuel efficient, because it's a relatively small-ish engine, naturally aspirated which means it doesn't have any extra power from turbos which can cause more fuel to be used

driving wise it is rear wheel drive, meaning the majority of the power created by the engine is sent to the rear two wheels. this makes it easier to drift and such because sending more power to the back = less traction = more slides. day to day you wouldn't notice it but in the rain or snow you'd definitely feel it

maintaining it might be difficult as the car is rare so parts may be few and far between, much like the car itself. either that or you pay a load in shipping costs from japan because they have a fair few over there still in good condition

s2000's are an unspoken gem and i quite frankly adore them; im not too sure on running costs, ik they're expensive though
I'd get a S2000 myself down the line, but then it's a fucking pain if I need to shuttle people around or pick up stuff that won't fit in the boot.

Having 4 seats is better in the long run then realizing you simped out for aesthetics.
