yeah I think you ran the vanilla server .jar file and not the forge one. modpack works singleplayer

you must download the server through the feed the beast launcher. direwolf20 is depreciated on the twitch launcher.
navigate to the search tab in the ftb launcher, download the pack, click the three dots that appear when you hover over the pack after downloading it, click the versions tab, then click "download server"

that is ok constantdisplay just make sure everyone knows not to install the latest version of the pack but rather version 2.5
