Knowing how the gun functions and operates is one of the most important factors to safety

Disassembling and assembling it with the person you are teaching helps make the new shooter comfortable with the gun, by obtaining knowledge of it

If they feel comfortable with it, they won't be nervous, and if they aren't nervous fewer mistakes occur

I don't think overwhelming somebody new to guns with the manual and a tool-kit is the best way to educate. Talking them through the safety mechanisms and the basic function of the specific firearm you're introducing is probably better. The courses you take in Canada to get authorization to purchase the firearms goes through the basics of safety and you're better off just introducing them to those because most firearms are very different when it comes to disassembly.

You want springs flying off into the distance, never to be found again and your firearm to be rendered useless, then go ahead. I agree that you should have a complete understanding of your firearm for it to be the 'safest', I'd also say that having a novice who hasn't shot a gun before literally disassemble and reassemble your firearm in front of you at the range is not a good experience for either party involved.

Well it's hard to actually get a firearm in the first place.
If you have literally anything on your record you don't get one, even something as small as riding your bike without a light on it and police decided to put it on your record.

As long as you have a valid reason and a squeaky clean record then it's not hard to get a gun.
If you have already got a gun in the uk legally it shouldn't be hard to get a suppressor.
Suppressors mitigate noise, yes. But it's not like hitman where nobody can hear it, you can still hear a suppressor.

I’m just gonna say I don’t think it should be hard to get them, but I find it weird how tight out rules are for basically everything else regarding firearms except for the one thing that’s very hard to get in the likes of America.
You don’t need to argue why they should be allowed to me I think the America law on it is stupid.

Also it’s not really like a squeaky clean record that you need, it’s proper convictions and prison sentences that make it difficult to impossible

I'm hopefully looking to go to a firing range when I go to New York next month. Now it's been about 5 years since I fired a proper rifle and even then it was a dodgy L98 with it's one-hand-to-operate bullpup design. Was wondering what firearms from this range's list would be good to shoot first time? Looking to shoot maybe a pistol and a rifle, as well as a revolver depending on the price
