Suggestion Make it clearer how to do your job / add a tutorial to job bosses

Description: When taking on a job, it can sometimes be unclear how you actually go about doing your job and getting paid. It could be handy if there was an option on the job boss interface that gave you something like a slideshow tutorial of steps on how to do your job in a basic way. It'd make it easier for new players who might not know how to do some jobs and reduce clutter in OOC. For instance, I'm not exactly sure how to do the news reporter job - like do I get paid hourly? Is there some hidden time-spent-recording quota with the camera?

Open your phone, navigate to Work App, It literally has a step by step tutorial. I suppose this is better for those who like visual cues.

If true, it currently doesn't feature weasel news and possibly other jobs at a minimum - I'd not checked them as I just assumed it showed you where to get the job, or let you sign onto the job from your phone. It could be better for it to be put into the individual bosses if so.

Weasel News & Impound don't have anything in the work app at the moment. They're more roleplay focused jobs, than directly getting paid for doing x-y-z. You're p much your own boss for the most part.

Good to know I suppose, but I still think it might be a good idea for the tutorials to be shifted from the phone to the respective bosses for each job. It'd leave space on the phone and make it more intuitive.

Though now I'm curious, how do I get paid for doing the news? I can't report Current Affairs on an empty stomach

By roleplaying? Sell your services to other people. Create something interesting enough and people will pay for it.

There's a middle ground that can/should be found here. You could apply that logic to virtually every job, but obviously doing that would be very silly. I'd also like to roleplay and do a job while not be hindered for not grinding the delivery/taxi/garbage jobs that actually pay

you're not being penalized for roleplaying a reporter, you are getting what you put into it. which is probably nothing, especially with nothing eventful happening.

weazel news is not intended to be a money-grind (nor should it be), focused job that gets you off your feet, it's something you want to do for the actual meat of the pussy in roleplay. your entire job as a reporter is to find and report on stories, why should that be paying out like other starter jobs that have actual set and defined tasks you perform? it shouldn't. at that point i'd just sign in and go sit in a bush and afk if i could be making anywhere from $600-3000 every 15 minutes doing absolutely nothing.

if you want to be paid more doing reporter shit, go sell your stories. make a magazine and sell it. you remind me of ppl in wow who just do LFR every tuesday but then go on twitter or wowhead talking about how they deserve mythic loot just for signing in.

Explain to me why this specific job is for some reason in your mind the exception to the rule. I genuinely cannot fathom the logic behind "this roleplay-heavy job should inherently dissuade the player from actually doing it vs being something like a garbage man". Why would you want to punish a player for picking literally any job?

I genuinely cannot fathom the logic behind "this roleplay-heavy job should inherently dissuade the player from actually doing it vs being something like a garbage man". Why would you want to punish a player for picking literally any job?

Motherfucker, you're not being punished. Your reward as a reporter is directly proportional to the effort you put in as a reporter and the frequency of events around you. Right now, during a playtest, and well into the early weeks of the server that's going to be little to none in both categories.

Unlike garbage pickup and delivery, jobs that have set tasks to them, a reporter is entirely reliant on what other players are doing and lack the same kind of tasks. It is a lot of sitting around, doing nothing, waiting, watching, listening. It is not the same as the other jobs. It is an entirely RP focused job whose intention is not to make money, but to highlight events in the city our characters live in.

You simply do not deserve the same kind of payout as those who are actively engaged in their job and constantly performing tasks. I don't even think garbage pickup should have any serious kind of payout, I'd much prefer some sort of crafting system of which garbage pickup could provide materials for and encourage dialogue and interaction between players.

There is the OPPORTUNITY to make more money, but that relies on you putting in the EFFORT to accomplish that.

I think you're also completely overlooking the fact you will not be doing reporter stuff and signed into weazel news every waking moment you have in the city, I guarantee you will be performing plenty of other odd jobs or engage in other opportunities that will make up for the fact that your sit around and observe job makes relatively no money directly.

This is going to go on forever. I'm going to postpone the weasel news debate until after release, in the meantime this suggestion should focus on the "the tutorial should be in their respective job bosses" part.
