no, I'm talking about a much more recent death that happened to a different rank leader, you know the one I'm talking about.

was trying to do a funeral for three dead rebels, got immediately jumped by cops and an APC conveniently by the time we decided to do the thing

idk if this was deliberate or a coincidence, still feels quite shitty that our little rp thingy got dunked on anyway despite us making it very clear we were tryna rp but there's that

Doesn't help that thing took dozens upon dozens of beams from at least four vortigaunts throughout the entire length of the engagement. Mind you, that APC bobbed in and out several times, too, so it got dealt several hits from several attack runs it did.
This incident has singlehandedly broken the illusion that vortigaunts can make a difference in a fight against an APC.

tbh personally I always felt like discord VCs, especially during combat, felt gamey. You could tell, even during downtime/passive, who is sitting in a VC because they all congregate or do the same thing without orders being relayed in chat.

This mainly comes as a cop but I feel like it removes part of the experience by just being in a VC 24/7. I refuse to join VCs.

It's a give/take
You can walk out of a vc having had a good time and turning a hard L into good fun because you're with people and able to crack jokes or talk to people.
Vc is just dependent on hanging with chill people. If it's a good room, it can honestly be pretty good.

there is, and has been for the entire duration of this iteration, a complete disregard for other people's enjoyment that goes both ways

there's been very, very many instances of both sides ruining each other's rp and some cases were severe enough to cause good people to leave the community

there are people in leadership positions that permeate this mentality like a bad smell and have permeated it even before this iteration began

until that's solved i'm pretty sure this iteration is going to be bogged down

The problem with this too is some people are incredibly quick to throw this the moment they're pissed even when its just server gameplay shit (both sides do this) which muddies the waters substantially.

For every example of genuinely crappy conduct that needs addressing (like the funeral stuff) there'll be a private slap-fight just because someone's mad they got ambushed or an attack failed.

Anyway. Regarding stuff like the funeral. A good start is having staff just use common sense and stepping in if they happen to notice, say, a PT rolling out during something like the funeral or if they see the Armbands starting to group up when cops are in the middle of something RP-heavy.

A staff member just being like “hey, guys, mind holding off for a bit so these folks can wrap their thing up?” would go a long way.

It shouldn’t be a frequent interjection, but it’d help.

this please. being able to improv to IC circumstances is fine but if something important is going on, it should always take priority over the daily S2K fest - without question.

staff should learn to interfere with gunfights for the sake of roleplay; and players should learn to expect their fights to be OOCly interrupted - if not just delayed a smidgeon - for the health of the server.

as someone who was in the apc, we got down to 10% after either an rpg hit or a close vort blast, either way it was really close

The APC got knocked down to 10% due to the one RPG blast, Vortigaunt blasts were simply not doing damage from the range they were doing. I suspect this to have always been the case but never tried and tested or something related to the code has gone funky once more.

I am now leaning fully towards the fact that this was no accident and instead a deliberate action. This goes to show that everything @PeaceAndMagick89 pointed out on this thread is spot-on regarding how deplorable CP leadership is.

For real, CivPro need to get their shit sorted. The general mindset of the server is taking a dangerous steep down towards the classic WW3RP mindset where such antics were done by both sides occasionally for the sake of annoying the other.


Mindsets like these were among the most prominent reasons why WW3RP always fails. Don't let it happen here.
