Suggestion Make Food/Drinks Decay

Food and drinks should decay over time so that people can't just sit on a bunch of food and drink over a period of time.

Food and drinks not decaying kind of fucks over Burger Shot because they can just buy a bunch of food in bulk, from either the 24/7, or from Burger Shot and not go back for prolonged periods of time. As a result there's less foot traffic to Burger Shot, which doesn't exactly incentivize them to keep people working there.

The deterrent is being at $0 and wondering what to do next. If you want to buy something you must make an individual IC choice to figure out how to regain funds.

$0 is way too easy to recover from. A character like Negan shouldn't be put on training wheels. If you don't want to go negative just get caught less or do less crimes.

I don't understand how the amount of income someone earns plays into whether the decay on food or water items will devastate you financially. If anything, it encourages you to be smart with the money you earn and avoid stacking items that expire given enough time.

It's too early for this. There's only one restaurant open in the city and if you decide to stock up on burgers to make up for the majority of the time when it isn't open and your food goes bad, you'll be stuck eating chips and water. It's just not a healthy diet man.

Your suggestion just completely disregards roleplay, cannot wait to play Negan, in jail for multiple days just to pay off my $130,000 debt.

Instead, I have talked about criminals being able to do community service with the EMS, helping injured people, or help player run businesses. And each time you do this a percentage of your debt is paid off (percentage because a static amount would be either OP for lower debts or insignificant for larger ones).

This encourages you to work within the legal system to pay off your debt whilst also getting a substantial amount of roleplay. Instead of not being able to play the game for multiple hours/day(s) just to pay off your debt with zero roleplay whatsoever.

I don't care about the economy.
I loathe hunger/thirst/survival mechanics, and adding a decay for items on top of that just makes the mechanic even more annoying. If people want to stack items, and that results in them not going to places like burgershot, so be it, its them that will miss out on the roleplay because they'd rather play the server like a RPG.

I can see where he is coming from with this, on the community me and @RedMan played on, they had every item have a decay function, this was mainly to free up item database space. But it aint so much an issue here as we have limited storage space and inventory with the weight based inv.

Applying to open a second restaurant when the first one is frequently empty is silly, and you know that lol.

It’s extra silly when the population is as low as it is in general, we don’t even reach half of the server cap.

Would much rather find ways to incentivize people to go there and create a need that compels them to rely on the business instead of stockpiling food and then avoiding the place for the rest of a play session.

That’s one OOC reason, the other is to keep items circulating so that there is a constant need for new stuff, keeping the economy moving instead of stagnant.
