I wrote a little bit about how great I think some of Game of Throne's dialogue is in a different thread. I'm gonna post some of my favorites, and hopefully y'all can share some of your favorites.

Robert Baratheon, Season 1 - War Stories

One of my very favorites, because it reveals a lot about a few different characters. You get to see how Robert envies people who died in combat, in their full glory, before their talents fade and their prowess on the battlefield evaporates. It also shows Jamie's contempt for people who don't understand his motivations or the circumstances surrounding his killing the Mad King. There's even a little development in there for Barristan Selmy, who seems like he was impressed by Jamie being a little swordsman prodigy and ascending all the way up to the King's Guard, before his opinion of him soured when Jamie broke his King's Guard oath.

Theon Greyjoy, Season 2 - Balon's Last Son Comes Home

The writers let the viewer get a good picture of a new character, Balon Greyjoy, when his son Theon returns home. His character is quickly established as hard to please with strong opinions about how anyone who calls themselves an Iron Islander should act. It's also a chance to see Theon in a different environment, where he's not in Robb's shadow. He's full of himself at first, but he becomes really insecure when it's obvious that he's out of his depth.

Catelyn Stark, Season 3 - Jon Snow Gets the Pox

A good one that shows another side to Catelyn's character. She's usual a dutiful wife and a loving mother, but when it comes to Ned's supposed bastard, she's extremely cold and vindictive. This scene shows how impossible it seems for her to love Jon like her natural-born kids, and also how quickly she seems ready to blame herself for things out of her control.

Any how, please share your favorite bits of character development in the show, maybe with a few thoughts about why you think they're good.

that one oberyn scene

where he dies
I was honestly pretty surprised and thoroughly enjoyed the scene.
I think that Oberyn was a pretty solid character that I personally cared for. When he did die, they made the scene very solid.

Very good character. Imma throw up an Oberyn link

Oberyn Martell, Season 4 -The First Time Oberyn Saw Tyrion

Shows a more sensitive side of Oberyn without ignoring his burning desire for vengeance that's integral to his character. Shows Tyrion in an acute state of shame when he's reminded of the rumors flying around at his birth, and of how is birth came at the price of his mother's death. Not that often that we see Tyrion so emotional about his dwarfism and his family history.

showfags...

kidding. My personal favorite quotes are from Eddard Stark and Tyrion Lannister.

"Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?" – Bran Stark
"That is the only time a man can be brave." – Eddard Stark

Tyrion: Let me give you some advice bastard. Never forget what you are. The rest of the world will not. Wear it like armor, and it can never be used to hurt you.
“When you tear out a man's tongue, you are not proving him a liar, you're only telling the world that you fear what he might say.”
