Now, let me tell you something. This is a FRIENDLY debate. And 'idiot' is an insult. When you debate, you don't call someone an idiot. If you have an opinion, you state it nicely. You don't walk up to someone and say, "I hate those jeans, you idiot." because likely, you'll get hit in the face for being a twat and having lack of manners. He didn't have to use the word 'idiot' or anything around those lines. If he considers it wrong, he says it kindly. You catching my drift? Manners matter. THANK YOU for posting anyway.
A 'bad game' is a game that isn't enjoyable and has little to no content with it. Such as a Unity game with trees, a couple rocks, and all you can do is walk around.
My opinion of course. You may like Infinite Warfare, but I may hate it. I may like Hearts of Iron, but you may dislike it. When I say 'shit games", it is me referencing games made by AAA companies that over-rush, over-price, etc. It is my opinion, but so what? I can't deny that $60 is quite the amount of money to spend on a game.
Okay.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! You're right, I don't appreciate them. Mostly the AAA companies, and you know why? Cause their absolute shit.
I have. Some good, some bad. Walking simulator here, shooting nazi zombies with flamethrowers with cats over there.

so let me sum it up real quickly. you were told 'you're an idiot unless you have data to back your talk' - to which you responded that he is calling you an idiot. honestly, it's a bit childish, pulling the insulting card when your opinion becomes challenged in a way that absolutely devalidates it. you did not prove any data to back up your talk and make valid proof checks even viable for this sort of discussion; if i re-call correctly, he called you out on stating 'according to mine and many
GAME EXPERTS' OPINIONS'.
and i understand him, if there are all these game experts that are educated and know what they're talking about, then their statements are most likely public, are they not? if you cannot provide valid and checked data to a discussion, you shouldn't use the data at all. of course, your opinions are fine, however, you should be ready to have them challenged by others due to them being simply what they are; opinions and not facts.

there's your problem. 'a bad game is a game that isn't enjoyable' - enjoyment in video games is entirely dependant on one person's experience, likes, dislikes, how much they're willing to spend in a game, both time-wise and money-wise. this makes it extremely difficult to consider a game bad when you use that definition - you are trying to bring out discussion while referencing to bad video games as this solid block with set rules, but then you proceed to define them this way; undefinable. if you can tell me what the 'bad' consists of in your opinion, perhaps we can see if we'll both agree that those games are indeed unenjoyable.
My opinion of course. You may like Infinite Warfare, but I may hate it. I may like Hearts of Iron, but you may dislike it. you don't have to spend your money on games - i think this is one thing that you're overlooking quite blindly. if a person doesn't have the money, they're not going to spend the money. they will only spend their hardly earned cash (unless they're of age where they can't earn money yet - as cramdam pointed out) if they do indeed have it. and when they decide to spend it, they most of the time know enough about the game to know whether it's good or not; of course, you made a valid point about pre-purchasing, i'm sceptical about that myself, yet there are probably people with enough money to get some benefits from the pre-order and have that little check box ticked off.
once again, i will return to the original point of this thread; the industry isn't bad just because you think it doesn't have good content.

while you may be arguing that the triple a companies are garbage, i would dare disagree; if you take a look at them from the business perspective, they're thriving and doing everything well to make their companies profit and strive. video game industry is what it is called;
industry. it's not a hobby club - that is why most companies nowadays don't put as much thought into games as they 'used to' (which they did only because they would have to return to living in their basements if their game didn't profit) - the competition factor is a bit slowing down at this point and certain things will occur; people won't work their asses off for something amazing when it's going to sell the same way, if not only slightly better than an average game, at which the employees and employers spend less time and stress on.
don't look at triple a titles for the definition of video game industry; instead, look at smaller game communities - for example Dirty Bomb, Foxhole, War Thunder (although that has transpired into a big company now), or any other game coming from a smaller studio. those people aren't making games for the sole purpose of money, but instead their own and others' enjoyment and once again, there are some hidden gems in there.

the examples that you have used are a topic for another discussion; do you think that the developers actually unironically meant these games to profit? no. they did it as a joke, or because they had fun. and there's something magical about that as well. of course those games are not going to do well, because they're not supposed to.

if you have over-saturated filters for your search bar, you will end up with empty server browser list. you can't expect that you will find a perfect game out there for you, one that will fulfill all your desires and wishes and make you a better person for as long as you will live. no. but what you can find is a game that can objectively be
BAD and
FLAWED, yet
ENJOYABLE. you can find a game that you'll spend dozens of hours and perhaps even hundreds of hours on, exploring it and having fun, overlooking its obvious negatives. life isn't perfect, and neither are games. if in real life, you wanted everything to be absolutely perfect, you'd either have a really bad time, or you wouldn't be happy. to enjoy the industry, you need to realise that money is a factor as well as put some effort into accepting some games for what they are, rather than just shouting that they're bad.
also, to answer the OT; no, the game industry is not going to crash, because of all the points that i've stated in my two anti-immigrant walls of text.
