Unearthed some LP HL2RP clips from 2014

I don't know if other people find this as interesting as I do, but after having researched serious roleplay servers; I tend to get excited to uncover new screenshots and recordings of them.

I had forgotten about some short recordings I'd made from what must have been LemonPunch HL2RP. The date according to the filenames was 10th May 2014.

There was no goal behind the recordings. I tended to randomly record things when I played. The frame was 960x540 which would have been all I could really manage back then (1920x1080 capturing half the pixels.)

The video clarity is poor, there's pretty bad lag, and most of the clips are only a few seconds long. As a result, the recordings are useless apart from using some stills to offer a random look at the old server:

Average computing power wasn't so great back then. A ton of players actually stuck to the GoldSrc engine due to PC limitations.

One of the oldest roleplay scenes was in the Battlegrounds mod. To this day the Revolutionary War Roleplay servers in Garry's Mod still use the same 7 second musket reload animation as Battlegrounds did. Back in the day the roleplay only consisted of volley fire from line formations though.

Garry's Mod with its better physics and sandbox tools seemed to open up the path to the more serious side of roleplay over the years.

I'd have to dig up my old hard drives, but I probably do have clips from 2006, although most of it would likely be GoldSrc.

got anything from old 2011 era hl2rp servers?

Probably enough to put some montages together. It would just take an investment of time to sort it all out. The recordings are spread over several hard drives and are not compressed, so moving them all together would take awhile.

There doesn't seem to be much content on YouTube, so if you stuck it on there with the apporpriate labels it could help in future. Even screenshots convey a lot of information about a server and its culture.
