I've always had a soft spot for trashy 50's sci-fi tbh so the whole thing was dope for me - but the recordings absolutely made it.

I feel like New Vegas could have made the Legion a much more viable faction to play in if they didn't immediately portray them as the bad guy by their looks and the obvious slavery and crucifixions. Caesar's ideology is actually something pretty neat that you could sympathize with it if they just changed it around a bit. It would've been cool to see the legion as a much more militaristic and modern military like the NCR that used similar combat means but still maintained some of their ideology, but changed the reasoning. They could use slavery, but not be proud of it and see it as a necessary evil if the top of the food chain in the wasteland is going to survive.

The Legion was cool to me in 2010 when I was an edgy teenager but looking back I wish they were more morally grey, like you said. There's literally nothing redeemable about them.

Even the 'big bad' of Fallout 4 had a lot of positives you could agree with. Legion had exactly nothing.

Mothership zeta utterly fucked FO3's gameplay when you get out of it because you usually have upwards of a thousand alien power cells after it's over. You can just go to the outcast outpost and sell off all of them for unlimited ammo and stimpacks.

Fallout 4 probably more so than NV and 3 bc at least NV and 3 retain a lot of the rpg elements

I have played 1 and 2 countless times over, it's just so enjoyable to go back to

3 is one of those games I felt went on forever (though I was a lot younger and it was my first big open world survival game other than Oblivion). 4 was the only game I really had no interest in seeing most of the other factions through as their premise was kinda ass, so I only played through it once, although I did enjoy it a lot.

NV was fun a few times through but me being an edgy teen I sided with the Legion loads and stopped playing before the DLC's came out.

bethesda shouldn't have shilled the 50s retrofuturism aspect so hard
that was less apparent in the early games
I preferred the more grunge atmosphere of the first 2 games

Edge? The Legion have zero redeemable qualities. Literally, at all. Nothing about them is good. Looking back I don't even know how I sided with them like I did.

The NCR is corrupt and inefficient but they're trying to do right.

i return to this all the time. caesars legion has no redeeming qualities - i swear ceasar even admits at one point in the game it’s merely an exercise of thesis and antithesis

the ncr are morally skewed in terms of corruption - ironic because they they are trying to bring back an old world that was rife with corruption in the first place - but at least they’re trying to bring order and peace to the mojave

yeah both are fucked in their own ways, and they should change with the times if they ever hope to cope in the ever changing mojave, but at least the ncr are trying to do good
