Thanks for the replies. I wasn't expecting so much detail and the related things that have been discussed. It's all very interesting.

Worth mentioning that LP was going to officially implement a microtransactions system, branded as 'other ways to help/pay' and I had the unfortunate task of writing up the HL2RP version of it way back when. I did actually write up half of it then got lazy and forgot about it. I didn't get in trouble for it because thanks to a certain someone ( @alex ) the idea never came to be

Good.

Stop it you're all clouding my rose-tinted glasses with FACTS and LOGIC

Kinda makes me appreciate what we've got going on here, you know? A good lot of us came from LP and the fact that a good number are still here shows just how passionate we are about this community. Warms my heart ngl guys, even if I am currently still shitting my guts out

Don't eat sugar free haribos

Edit: Grammar correction

It's what happens when you peek behind the curtain, there's a lot more stories like that from LP.
I remember that one time I mass RDM'd on some other DarkRP server and I kept advertising Lemonpunch untill I got banned

I was asleep, wake up to the owner of said server being on the forums moaning about it

See I'm in a convo with the big honchos. Gurrazor didn't outright ban me and I might be wrong but he was 'glad' I did it

I dunno chief

Depends when although I very much doubt that story and possibly remember you doing that and that not being how the conversation went.

You might be right, but it still leaves me thinking. That was almost three years ago and I'm clouded

people spend too much money on jerry's alteration

really if you wanted to make decent side-money you could just set up a darkrp server with donations and hand off running it to some kid and let it sit for months on end as you rake in cash

Tbh I joined up with After-flash because I wanted to join the staff team in order to create an immersive world (prop decorating) as well as doing events. I believe I applied for a similiar role in Lemonpunch and in Neb which never got accepted. At first it ran kind of smoothly but then there was issues like the script/coding guy giving out free rebel gear to his friends, leading to people shit talking each other over teamspeak due to circlejerking. For some reason we even started developing 3 seperate servers at once which totally killed the finances. Gurazzor also asked me to join Monolith's staff since he heard how hard I worked in the community which I did for awhile, I did however resign pretty quickly since there were no plans to do serious roleplay servers.

Sums up most communities pretty well, they all fall into the same traps early on; I’ve seen so many community start ups, failures and some successes over the far too long time I’ve been around GMod and you definitely notice the patterns.

All this talk about LP reminds me of the Microtransaction system Gurra brought up in one of his many two second ideas.
It took us days to talk him down from it, and I think we only managed to move on as it was forgotten about.

All of this behind the back paying for equipment was done without my knowledge even as a Director, it was always just about how to make more money from the community. It was essentially a business he used in his Uni studies to get a grade.

We did have aspirations to move away from Gmod for a while, but nothing ever came from it. There was just a focus on driving more money from the community.

It still astounds me to this day that it all fell apart so quickly. After all the evidence presented to him we collected, he still kept his hands on all the assets to sell on later (Many without the legal consent of the original developer).

Well, there's my monthly post done...

People may have wondered why @Blackquill and I didn't speak up about this shirt and the answer to that was the very strong insinuation that we really didn't have a say if we wanted to keep our positions and that all the other Headstaff were okay with it anyway.

Ultimately though the only guy who really donated lots did so openly and it was a community meme so nobody took it seriously because Gurrazor would always say shit like "oh I don't give out OP end game gear lol" which was a lie.
