Because, at least on the fork map, people like @seal sat hidden in a bush and managed to snipe entire 10+ man groups before people figured out where he was. We'd get people setting up trainings to use smoke grenades and shit, but it couldnt save them

hot take there was absolutely nothing wrong with marksmen people just refused to adapt to their presence on the field so they bitched for their removal

i was marksman for fucking ages shit was cash but you’re so easily countered if two or more people pushed me up close and closed the distance, i couldn’t fend them off because the m24 had too much zoom and shit rate of fire

The only map I can think of where marksmen were legitimately hard to counter was fork because of the size/vegetation, but pretty much every other map all you had to do was just not be a retard and get close and the sniper was fucked

They also tried to lock me in with 096 - but the guards transporting me looked it in the eye so it broke out and murdered everyone while I sat in the cell.

That's because your base skill wasn't that good, so the sniper wasn't really that OP on you.
It was a weapon without a skillcap and an amplifier of skill

at some point my entire strategy to win events was 'ok seal u go here and shoot people while everyone else runs it down for distraction' and it worked.

fork was laggy anyway for globs because it rendered the entire map from the castle, whereas if you looked towards the castle there’d be nothing there

Small S2K's tended to be fine. Anything more, though...
