My reason for After-Life is it's a concept I am personally passionate about. Development has been on hold for a few months as I got laid off from my job but I am looking at options to resume.
I believe post-occupation society is a niche that has not been tapped into and can target not just HL2 fans but people who enjoy things like cyberpunk and other sci-fi genres, along with inspiration from things like Arcane.
I do not think you or anyone else who desires a classic HL2 setting to be wrong. It is just not where my personal desires to pursue as a project lay. I am pursuing After-Life because it is something I want to see brought into existence and I think has the potential for success. Traditional CityRP hasn't succeeded in many years here on Nebulous for a variety of reasons but I will say that the key to any setting is the gameloops. If the gameloops and environment are engaging enough any setting can succeed. Perhaps After-Life is not what you and some others want to see. But there has also been a strong list of people who have voiced their interest in the project.
Ultimately if you want to see something made then look to see it made. I encourage you to try your own hand at pursuing a project you wish to see. Perhaps mine is not for you and that is okay.
