I just saw it in theatres, it’s easily in my top 3 out of the Alien franchise, I love how they built on the canon whilst the movie still being able to feel like its own thing

Andy and Rains relationship was really touching, loved her going back for him at the end

I liked how rain saw the miners taking the canary’s into the mine and that being the final nail that drives her to joining the heist

I absolutely loved the xeno-engineer hybrid and all the links to the greater franchise such as the black goo and the return of ash as Rook.

The de-aging cgi was the one glaring issue i had with the movie, rook himself was painfully obviously fake, but i could look past it, just disappointing how youtubers have made better deaged stuff than 2024 cinema.

im excited for the new alien show

I saw in theatres yesterday. I liked it for the most part albeit the suspension of disbelief necessary for three big events ( The Original Alien ending up with The Nostromos wreckage intact despite it being triple nuked, the Cargo Hauler managing to both accelerate the stations arrival towards the meteorite ring and land safely in a hangar without a pilot, as well as The Hybrids birth occurring despite its host being put into cryostasis and also the fact the host in question injected herself for almost no fucking reason ) was unwelcome, but ultimately forgivable as it respectively sets up and wraps up a damn good Alien film that builds on some of the lore and thematic elements of previous films, WITHOUT being complete shit that ends on a boring cliffhanger!

Being a little more specific, I liked a lot of the setpieces that our protagonists engineer their way around despite being less experienced or equipped than The Nostromo Crew or The Colonial Marines and the overall atmosphere reminding us once more that space is a very shit, very dangerous place to live, with a good look at a station in technological decay.

If you needed me to rank it, I'd put it beneath Alien (by a fair bit) and above AlienCubed (by a lot). I'm glad to have Alien being a thing again. Hopefully this is just the first of people making good shit again. As an aside, I'll plug the fan animated short film ALIEN: Monday here as well. It's some good shit that got me in the mood for Alien stuff that ultimately led me going to see this film.
