Can't click anything in Gmod, or open Steam Overlay

Exactly as the title says. I will boot up Garry's Mod, I can still move my mouse around and tab out just fine, however I can not click on ANYTHING in the game, nor can I bring up my steam overlay, thus stranding me on the main menu. Help!
