Essentially the vehicle has the potential to despawn while you hunt for it, even while in the target area. I've had this occur once, and I will need to seek it out again to get a demonstration.
but these were my actions leading to the bug
- Start a chop shop mission
- Drive to target area
- Check phone for details on the vehicle
- Wait a extended period of time (or be really bad at identifying cars like me)
- Periodically check your phone
- Target car details may change to [Unknown]
Mission flow at this point seems to break, best course of action is to quit out or drive back to the chop shop and end your shift manually before getting a new one.
Although it makes for an interesting premise, if there was a time sensitivity to it, needing to find the car before the owner drives off again, but largely I think there may just need to be the ability for the game to recognise the vehicle is gone and trigger a failure state, send you to a new location for a different car, or provide some type of alert.
I will try and repeat this again to try and trigger it with a recording, apologies for the lack of media to reference for now.
