I know I'm in no spot to be criticising work but I'd like to point out a few things about these two men:

The conscript is holding his gun like he's expecting to fire, stock on his shoulder.
But in the context of the male next to him he doesn't seem right.
They look like they're having a chill conversation if you base the context on the older-man

If you want to use a hand you use your firing hand so it doesn't get fatigued.
