Anyone else see this? Got round to watching it recently and I was on the fence about it.

Felt like it had a massive identity crisis, wasn't sure if it wanted to be it's own independent movie or a shining sequel.

Won't reply but to tag you @Slimaaconroy but the book was like that too, honestly. Its a sequel but its also its own thing. Its weird. Its also uniquely based off of the movie version because in the Shining book the Hotel goes boom.
