I also just wanna note that being able to type out a command is far more fluid in an active scenario than having to go through the ui
At least for those who are familiar with the emotes and don’t type like grandmas
And tbh, at least for me, typing out the command is far less immersion breaking than having the UI in my face.

Commands just aren’t part of our design, the emotes menu has improvements on the roadmap which will make it quicker to use your most used or favourite emotes.

respectfully, i don't think an option should be completely disregarded just because it doesn't fit your vision, the player experience should be paramount here. the ui is simply unpleasant to work with when it comes to emotes. telling us that we can't have an alternative option to engage with the system, especially a ui system, just feels and comes across as wrong. UI stuff should have a secondary, command based means of engaging, especially if the UI borks for whatever reason.
i'm not asking for a full rework, just to let us have an alternative means of engaging with emotes. you of all people should surely be understanding of how much easier it can be for some of us that have worked with terminal/command line/powershell frequently that typing out a command can often times be quicker and more efficient than using the gui.
i don't like using the ui for this. i just don't. keybinds for emotes are very limited too, there's only so many buttons i can bind (especially if you've already got all your fivem options bound) and the ui simply does not allow for quick, on the fly use of emotes.
the ui can, and does lag for people, the time it takes for me to open the emote menu, search for, and then click through just one emote i could type out several more much quicker, much more fluidly, without completely stripping away immersion by having a big purple ui in the middle of my screen. it makes me not want to engage with it at all.

i dont want da server to become command dependent because
a) its not diagetic and is entirely disconnected from the highly-immersive nature of the rest of the server's interface-dependent systems
2) it'll be even more clunky than the current "list and search" system because the moment i type e in chat it'll load 600 instances of the word "emote" and then some other shit
III) i don't want to have to stop to do a funny pose.
Good thing I never said I wanted it to be command dependent. I specifically said I wanted it as an option. Option is defined as "a thing that is or may be chosen".
The emote menu isn't diagetic either, and having to break my vision to LOOK THROUGH A MENU breaks the immersion and disconnects me more from it than the dumbasses asking about the dole in OOC.
Nor did I say it should pull up some sort of auto complete list. I just want to be able to type /emote or /e and use the list of emotes that I, y'know, know in my head.
I guarantee you and everyone else will be doing 99% of their emotes while stationary, that is not personally moving via WSAD.
But again, at the end of the day, I'm not saying take away the ui for everyone, I am saying let us have the option of doing something that many people find to be quicker, more efficient, and less immersion breaking.
It's hard for me to engage with someone in good faith when they come into the thread acting like a dumb fuck/smart ass thinking their attempt at a zinger was worth posting when at the end of the day, I'm simply trying to make a good faith effort at making suggestions to the developers overall improve the player's roleplay experience. Not only does it just detract from the actual conversation being had, it completely disintegrates any desire to interact meaningfully beyond that post.
There are places to shitpost and act like that, but it's not the suggestions. Or at the very least not other threads that aren't their own. People who shitpost in suggestions should be having their posting privileges revoked from posting in here, just like we already do in other threads when they get out of line. Or just grow the fuck up and stay out of my threads if you can't keep in line, I simply do not have the patience for those antics when I'm trying to advocate for actual, genuine, not-shitpost meme changes.
If there's a disagreement, or a proposed alternative to the suggestion, make it, I am all for constructive conversation. But coming in here saying that stupid shit like "find out about the command in RP" is a deliberate troll post that contributes absolutely nothing and only serves to be an annoying pain in the ass. It's unwanted. Take that shit somewhere else.

Just relax. The report button is there for a reason, and let's continue to have a civil discussion about the concept and idea behind the thread - rather than slinging insults at each other.
My experience with the report button is that mods don't actually do anything for hours upon hours on end despite posting on the forums after reports are made until I'm literally spamming it to get their attention or going to head staff DMs with screenshots.
Much like my willingness to engage max in good faith, it's not all that there for reporting to forum mods. They're always "busy" (reading and posting on the forums) or on "LOA" (but still reading and posting on the forums), or my favorite "conflicted", and I've even had this issue when straight up slurs are being hurled at people. You have seen CA, and we both know sometimes they just like to sit by, watch, and giggle in DMs.
I will go as far as to assert that me telling someone to fuck off actually brings the thread and the issues I'm having with that person to the mods attention faster and more effectively than that report button.
