why not just have it first come first serve, with a maximum of like 2 uses a week so it won't take much time from your day at all

idk if this is a bad idea but, maybe let senior admin+s do that as well?

i refuse to set up an event server scheduling process, would rather just reserve it for really good shit that impacts main server meaningfully but cant be portrayed on main
Faction build competition, Combine go on one server while rebels go into the other to make the best constructions possible with pet flags enabled.

ye, events ought to be open for all, and even more professional grand events to be open for joining it mid session of it ongoing

they don't have access to the server console nor content pack for obvious reasons
Idk, delegate some people to being in charge of the event server or something? Maybe require it to be on a map for one week minimum, encourage staff to use the same map for different events during said week, or something...

just make the server when someone has an event worth doing and puts it forward

otherwise people will try to just occupy the server with mid fluff

eventbox is still superior in current playerbase numbers

if our beloved event staff goes on vacation to eventos server, less event staff on main server, with extra people absent for the time that the event goes on,
thus the main population on the server experiences a few days of less players, and less event staff

what for tho, if eventos boxes / doing events in whatever way possible on the main server, exist
it's a meaningless split

no i will not apologise nor retract this statement

to me all the event server is-is just something that retracts from main pop and brings back the dogwater spoonfeeding mentality where some mfs were unironically only getting on purely for the next s-tier carefully-curated 2-player event

i dunno call me a moron all u like but - as much as ive been in plenty and enjoyed them - i dont like the whole carefully-crafted-small-player-amount event thing. while i understand the appeal, i really dont like it.

pair that with the fact that those events are made explicitly so that 'high quality small number of people' is the main feature and so i feel like new players miss out on them a fuckton

just make main server shit man come on, if this iteration's proved anything it's that a lot can be achieved with very little

It's a bit of a stretch:

Any edit to a map requires a .vmf (most maps do not have these released, for obvious reasons) or for it to be decompiled.

Decompiling a map often breaks everything. displacements must be reset/recreated, textures must be re-applied, I/O functions must be fixed, func_ entities recreated/fixed, the list goes on.

It's a huge, huge thing to do versus just propping a square box somewhere.
Tbh I've decompiled a couple of maps now (not just small ones) and I've yet to actually stumble into any issues like that
