I am disgusted by the fact that half life 3 will be a 'full-length VR game'. Probably going to be ultra-linear arcade game set on a teleporting boat. As always valve truly delivers what nobody asked for.

Get this into your head, the only way you'll see HL3 is by the hands of the community. Valve has made it clear it's not in their plans to make the game, and have made no steps towards stopping community people making a game out of the published Epistle 3.

I'm using that overused meme everyone gets a boner from. I never rooted for episode 3 to come, but nevertheless I get a slap in the face instead of me being genuinely hyped.

I just don't trust valve to make a game worth hyping for anymore and I only see this VR prequel game be another one of those 'look-what-VR-can-do' games for Valve to promote themselves. Unless they really pull shit out of the box then any addition to this franchise will just ruin it for me

The games likely to be set in-between the end of HL1 and the beginning of HL2. Even if you don’t have a headset to play the game, it’s undeniable that it’ll have tons of lore to pick apart and hopefully Source 2 leads the way to tons more mods

It switched to HL:VR about 1.5 years ago.

Everyone called him a madman but he was the only sane one. I'm sure he was dying inside at the fact that he knew all this information and couldn't reveal it due to you know, ousting leakers.

I hope we get to see either the seven-hour war or even <:: DAY ZERO ::> that would be so sweet to see the first few days of civil protection or whatever. Very glad we're getting a new installment even if it's in VR.

I enjoy the idea that Valve wants to have their Half-Life titles be the new frontier of something but I really don't see VR having that much of a future in the gaming industry. Feels similar to when we had 3D glasses in movie theaters.

AR (augmented reality) feels like it would have been more of a safe bet.

One of the core mechanics from Half-Life 2, the physics-based Gravity Gun, will make a return in Half-Life: Alyx, sort of. Instead of a gun, there will be a new mechanic called “Grabbity Gloves” which sources describe as something similar to "magnet gloves." Like the Gravity Gun, the Grabbity Gloves will allow players to attract far away objects, and interact with in-game objects that behave according to realistic physics.

Video also says it''ll be the first game on Source 2, and that it's a prequel (which we basically already knew)

My biggest gripe with this though is that Laidlaw is no longer with Valve and I don't expect Valve to welcome him back for this project. The Half-Life environment we know and love may be very different than the one we see in this title without Mark's involvement.

I want to like this, I want to be excited and I want to be optimistic and open-minded but all I can feel is the same sort of rejection I have towards beta content/lore.
