In 1870, Boulton and Park were arrested in London for cross dressing, on suspicion of "buggery" or "unnatural crimes". Under arrest for homosexuality, they were put under an examination to determine whether they engaged in sodomy.
At their trial in 1871, they were acquitted as it couldn't be proven whether they committed any homosexual crimes and cross dressing was not a crime either.
