my boy numbers pepic or jaggles correct me if i'm wrong but this is after hl2:ep2 since the premise is the combine is gathered under advisors trying to hunt a portal to reach main world for reinforcements

From some discussions with Numbers the invasion/BMI happened in the year 2002, keeping the canon length of 20 years till HL2. HL2+Eps happened over the course of 2022 and we are now several months post Episode 2. When we begin January 7th, 2023 it will be January 7th, 2023 in-game as well. (Subject to change atm of course)

I believe a proper timeline will be put together eventually.

combine status-quo (in parallel theres a big war on rebellion going) -> rebels eventually breach combine city defences + nova prostek and citadel get yeeted -> combine earth-overworld communications destroyed -> the combine left on earth trying to chase the portal storms since they can potentially use them as gateways to the overworld

Honestly speaking now, I don't think we're "enforcing" whatever happened to them. For sure they don't hold any position of power now, you may guess some became transhumanised, some were executed by the resistance, and who knows what their situation is in places of the world where citadels still work despite not being connected to the network

I think you should have breen's son leading an event faction of loyalists taking up arms to fight against the rebels
