This is what I mean. I'm not against @Lewis! bringing it up, but literally nobody in this thread is any less guilty than anyone else of using Havok as a funny punching bag and community meme. There is no "you're letting this happen???" because as I just proved, even Lewis sat and said nothing.



That's my point. Nothing happened, there was no "everything that went down". The guy said some cringe shit in CA and got mean-mugged for his necklace to the point it became a community meme and everyone wandered off. There was no big massive offence or community outcry for his removal beyond "lmao fucking retard".

He deleted his own account six months later with absolutely nobody trying to remove him.

Lets be honest about why this even got brought up; he got back into the cop faction and people don't like that, but there's no reason to have him removed outright from the faction itself, so the attempt is being made to oust him entirely on moral grounds.

ok so it wasnt brought up 3 years ago, partly cause the dude went radio silent and then deleted his account and everyone forgot about him and came back to lurk like 2 years later

why does this mean that people cant say anything about it now or why is it a gotcha that nobody said anything then

Unfortunately I've had the displeasure of growing up and having to deal with these people in real life, it really puts it into perspective when you actually meet the people who talk about killing anybody like me all the time

I'm annoyed now, what's the problem here?

I never had any problems with Havok and he always seemed like reasonable guy. People told me that he was such and such and he proclaimed that he didn't know and then he made a video where he threw it in a river. I don't wanna be part of the accusations and have fingers pointed at me, but having never seen that symbol before in my life, I would definitely believe that it's just made to look cool (it looks like it's straight out of star wars mfer), and his reaction was definitely within the scope of possibility. Most of the nazi shit and name calling and meme edits to make him look a certain way and reinforce that idea of him were done by other people to him.

I think the best approach from hereonward would be to basically admit we all collectively fucked up by doing nothing when a guy outed himself as a neo nazi wearing neo nazi regalia whose defence involved him admitting he held far right beliefs but with the attached asterisk of *BUT DEFINITELY NOT NAZI BELIEFS, ban him to avoid doing literally the same thing and move on.

while the staff and alex have a complete right to remove folks they dont like, i dont think alex wants to play the moral police on what people are doing in the privacy of their own homes if he can help it

I have no problem with you (@Lewis!) being annoyed - but you know Neb as well as I do; if someone holds onto something for an extended period of time and drops it only when its convenient and in the loudest way possible, chances are its done for a specific reason that is unrelated to the content and is instead an attempt to get something done, y'know?

I don't remotely care about you disliking Havok, and trust me I'm LGBT too and I've unfortunately met some fucking hateful people in my life who'd probably string me, my partner and my family up if they got their way, so don't think I'm defending him by any means.

What got my back up was the narrative of "why is this being accepted" when nobody said anything. I didn't mean to come on at your reasoning, it was more just the pointing fingers like the entire place isn't guilty, so I apologize for throwing shit. Its just something Neb has a history of doing and I thought that was the same here.

I'm looking at the forum rules rn and there isnt even a forum ban request format or a rule for banning someone on the grounds that their beliefs are utterly despicable and would see a lot of people hurt if put into practice unless they dont make the slightest effort to hide it and openly discriminate against other people on forums

The "problem" is that Havok's only real crime was wearing the necklace, which he ended up throwing away after 10+ pages of him trying and failing to defend himself and people turning it into a community meme. I genuinely cannot remember a single instance of him spewing anything otherwise racist or hateful... ever.

So like. Should he be banned? I'm genuinely asking because I don't know. I don't think anyone else actually has examples of it either, and that's not me being snide, because I sure as hell can't remember anything else.

I'm 99% confident of the beliefs he holds, but unlike the idiots before him who have been banned on CA for more openly espousing what they believe in, he's only slipped up once, and his 'defence' only makes it more clear what he believes in even if he doesn't espouse it at all, having the common sense not to do so on a predominantly left leaning forum.

I suppose the question is if you could ban someone based solely on that. To me it seems obvious now, but clearly its seen as more nuanced. Still a very very awkward situation.
