Like just undeniable proof of how cowardly the staff team on this community is where this shit was allowed to even happen at all with basically 0 consequences for anyone. Even Mr Belgian chuddy and his 2 euro hyperborea necklace was allowed to just drop right back in like nothing happened only to get banned for doing literally the exact same thing again.

not saying its comparable in timescales, but we pre-emptively banned every still active nazi and all their little groomlets and still had a very healthy population while active

for the vast majority of this community's most problematic groups and individuals everyone was like 13-17 years old including the server runners and the majority of staff. it's pretty hard to hold people accountable for their lack of empathy in discerning what was funny, and what was over the line, especially when it got muddled by an era where edgy=funny, and a vast majority of people didn't fathom the real world consequences of most of what they portrayed

it's not like we made a brand new community that could pre-ban problematic people immediately (clean slate 'n all) before they became pivotal members, nebulous and lemonpunch had people with reputations and actual leverage, and in some cases, blackmail material

theres been at least a half dozen nazi themed rebel groups. i didnt see anyone currently partaking in this conversation calling them out at the time they were made. i just think its unfair to make this a systemic issue and not default to saying everyone was equally retarded, especially when most of them were kids at the time.

it can be both

many of the awful racist rebel groups were helmed by people who were very popular in the community, who would've caused immense forum-wide riots if they got banned

the reason why some of these actors have been banned now is because the general community is so apathetic because of the long gap between server hostings and iterations, everything carries less weight now.

back when we were at the height of HL2RP nostalgia someone like plankt0n who's by all accounts gone would occasionally make a profile post and be swept away in a landslide of messages asking how he's been and what he's been up to
nowadays some old hat can make a comeback and no one'll care, so no one'll care if they get banned either

a lesser example of someone doing catastrophic damage to the server when banned/removed was when Ark was removed from the outlands iteration
the same shit would happen if you banned someone who led a top rebel cell back in the prime city iterations, the entire server would grind to a halt

i fundamentally understand what you're saying, but i plainly disagree. if the server had been at the same heights today, and the same things had happened when surrounded by mature adults in the year of our lord 2025, these people would be banned. this stuff predates the Havok incident, who by all accounts was a big name when he got clowned on by the entire community.

I’m honestly very surprised to realize how deranged some of the people here were back then. Now I understand why Alex doesn’t want to unarchive the old posts. I mean, I was a kid myself at the time, but I wasn’t that deranged. The cringiest or “bad” thing I did was complain in my pk appeals and look for loopholes to bring my characters back.
