honorary mention to @Blackquill playing a dying old man in the "Colors Between" event which was a combat free event where a few fellers walked to a lighthouse to scatter said old man's ashes. unbelievable as it may be.... even blackquill will roleplay sometimes, and for this instance, he was fantastic for the same reasons as outlined above.

Wasn’t there also a sniper character shooting at us because he mistakenly thought we were someone else?

Also I think that old man was a ex-cop if I remember correctly

Here's a convo starter:

What's the most emotional you've gotten playing HL2RP? Neb or otherwise. And I'm not talking like pissed off cause your char got pked but like invested emotions in a story arc or the loss of someone elses character.

I remember on my CP Character, I interacted with this mystical vortigaunt being, and suddenly began having severe headaches, visions, and feelings.

The first instance that something was going on was a personal /it, During a patrol, I was given a prompt of danger around the corner, and I was given enough time to take action to pull the unit in infront of him back around the corner just as the shot rang out, missing him. Everyone was stunned at how my Unit knew.. he just said "He had this feeling."

More shit happened when a Unit was getting beaten up by some weird creature, and his face was WAY too close to a firepit – my Unit could feel the burning warmth on his own and legit saw – like a smokey green trail to the location – to which he kicked the creature off the unit.

I wish I could word it better… but my Unit was basically getting psychic abilities, and both my character and myself was wondering emotionily on how this will end.. but alas, never got that far into it

I also cant for the love of god remember who'se event line it was.. and its annoying the hell out of me.- Cos I wanted to continue it, but the server ended.

I think it was just ego for the most part. I remember there being another specific function to it but I can't remember for a fact what it was

I think it had something to do with keeping each member's steam name secret, because whenever you saw X player connect, or X Y and Z all connect in unison, rebels would have a fair guess that a sweep is coming and could adjust for it OOC

I have no idea how that ties into keeping each tagline secret though. I remember the whole "OTA GUIDE" meme stemmed from people having to literally guess or encourage secretive circlejerking to know the inner workings of the faction for a better chance at getting accepted and people like karl police would obsess over the details so they could make the "perfect app" and one of the guide's details might've been the taglines???

that never made sense to me because 90% of the time the huge mass of cops forming up would be a dead giveaway for a regular combined sweep; 'OTA exclusive' ones had the same issue because a whole bunch of known civpro players joining but not being on their cops practically screamed it.

PM'ing / guessing taglines to check for sweeps? that was another thing they got pissed about but tbh I never saw anyone actually do it.

i still remember when i think Evil or Plankt0n cleared up rumors about the OTA faction and basically said
"yeah it is a circlejerk. we will deny you solely for not OOCly liking you. cry about it, we don't want people we don't like in our faction"

did most of my staffing on ota so long as it only involved running commands, stood most of the time inside the Nexus, did jack shit, watched videos and stared at logs
