How was LemonPunch funded?

I seem to recall it had donation rewards, but I'm hoping some veterans can remember what the donation structure was like for the various servers.

What were the donation rewards? What impact did the rewards have on the servers? Did a potential paywall behind certain things have a negative impact on your gameplay experience?

Obviously I'm researching for the archive.

I remember donations were at first a one time 20 £ or so purchase and you kept it forever, but around late 2014 or something it was changed to monthly subscription

It had the whole ''Gold membership'' thing, which cost about 10£ per month if I'm not mistaken.

I don't know what things WW3RP had, but HL2 had:

  • Zombie whitelist
  • Premium storage
  • A monthly 2000 claimable tokens
  • Bodygroups for citizen models

And the forums had the ability to add signatures to your posts, banners to your profile and the ability to change your forum title

The main reason people donated was to get the tokens, cause 2k was enough to instantly gear a new character.

And although it wasn't advertised, if Gurrazor knew you were the sort who had more money to spend than you knew what to do with he'd set you up with gear and weapons (which he wasn't meant to by his own rules) for obscene prices despite knowing the stigma and such. There was one guy, AceofSpades, who'd routinely spend hundreds of dollars for gear only to get PK'd within a week.

Goodie bags that had chances of giving you free guns I think
Not entirely correct

They contained smaller items and tokens.

Guns and higher tier shit gurra usually sold people privately over TS/forum conversations for dumb prices

He’s done the same shit for monolith too, I hopped on a few times

He’s so flooded with cash from donations he can actually afford to pay his devs on there

He tried to cheat Novus out of dealers so got lured to the beach and ran when he realised they planned to kill him only to get mown down, PK'd and his crossbow taken.

I remember checking out their forums and they literally have daily staff/player abuse reports lmao

Psisyn is a cool streamer, he has a few videos of him on monolith

I think gurrazor payed him to play on there and he definitely gave the guy free upgrades, stat boosts, money, etc

Yeah, Gurrazor admitted he's paid a few people to try and get more publicity to his server - trolls and popular people alike.

His strat was to pay youtubers to play and make videos;

Kinda funny seeing staff conflicted on banning someone who's being payed to be on the server but isn't playing by the rules
Was funnier when the community lashed out at him for it and he just shrugged and went "but it got us publicity its okay :)"
