Valve officially revealed meaning of Anti-Citizen One. Or at least at the time of development. I mean it was obvious, but this time it's from Valve's own words.
Who needs the OTA Guide, if you have it from Valve instead?
By the way, I think back then the OTA leads didn't reveal the "OTA Guide", because it had strict tactics in them and positions, I think that was the only sacre thing they were trying to gatekeep. I don't think they cared about the RP part, as the RP knowledge would be usually shared in the public documents. It could be that they didn't feel like anyone would be interested in the entire glossary.
Though I am not gonna lie, this whole "take my dog out thing", but with "CAB and OTA", sounds ridiculous to me nowadays. My reaction to whenever I saw "positions" in the OTA guide when someone leaked the guide to me, was the following: "Can't I just fucking shoot the CAB from the air? These freaking Star Wars RP formations ain't gonna protect anyone".
There were a lot of the goofy RP from other HL2 RP servers, where you'd breach into a building with this strict enforcement of rules where you'd be forced to count up "1, 2, 3" and then go through a door by shooting it with a USP, or do voice lines that none of the Lua developers ever fixed either.
Even if Rebels live in the Sewers. Shown in Half-Life: Alyx. The Combine literally DRILLED into the Sewers. While in Garry's Mod, the best thing one came up with is blow a door up with a RPG in an OTA Elite Suit or something. A door, of course.
But it was RP and a lot of limitations and stuff exist within Source Engine 1.
The Rebel vs Combine; put to Rebel Character vs OTA character and PK, type thing; Was always a mystery to me. I think there goes a lot behind the scenes with farming Loyality Points or Scrap or whatever, to get a gasmask suit or a gun. I still don't know how there was this shooter content for Rebel character. Because if there was too much time involved, who would ever do PvP just to get time PK'd. Unless it was easy to get a semi-automatic gun. Of course there were rules, to prevent things like Blue Suit vs Combine Wars every 10 minutes.
Nowadays, with the drama and copy paste NoPixel makes, there's even war against communities, it's actually crazy. Just because of RP, but amplified. It's basically like the situation where I had to get banned from where temporarily to learn why my actions were wrong. But now it's like happening from other sources from a bunch of different people, split into some drama content from other communities, just through "NoPixel" viewers. It's actually very fascinating, but also crazy.
But nebulous cloud and LemonPunch existed before NoPixel. I believe that thus two communities set up a "blueprint" for any other community that existed later. A blueprint as in, an idea on how you can make a server. Basically with the term "blueprint", I want to say that, this is why every server has the same commands, or similar rules, etc. It all came from somewhere. A blueprint.
"Also, if you're making a server in 2024, do not use the freaking Star Wars RP blueprint, with left face training bullshit".
But, with these problems, I always was thinking on what I could do. Where I'd create something new, which purpose is to decay old fashion Serious HL2:RP and fix the issues from it and the issues from other servers that were based from it, and combine it into something new and better. I still look forward on doing that, but of course it would be on s&box, if I ever start doing it. It's also that I worry about whether s&box cares about QA, because I got really good in finding issues or bugs. That I found some other concerning things that makes me overal concerned about "performance" and "optimization".
So that's where like Anti-Citizen One and things like that came from, rather than saying, "The guy with the orange suit is causing trouble," it would be, "Anti-Citizen One breach.
