John Smith
"Just one more fight."
"Our objective is to extract the civilians to the train depot near the Empire State Building while avoiding these alien freaks."
A group of soldiers look up to their Captain, reeling after the loss of their brave Lieutenant. John itching at the bandage over his right eye the Captain briefing them with a stoic heroism.
John's attention shifted to the pile of injured and tired civilians "Get them moving!" he heard over his shoulder. John starts barking at them repeating the order passed down from his higher up.

They made it, and it cost lives but pushing through the tripods and the brawlers. The soldiers made it to the train yard, a radio giving them orders and information that the train was on its way they just had to hold out.
The fighting seemed to take days but it was moments. They repelled wave after wave, ship after ship until their ammo was null.
Then a silence broke out, after the gunshots eerie and uncomfortable, then the sound of Breen's voice rang out "In the time of a workday..." The war was over. John threw his shotgun to the ground, it was useless either way his hands raised above his head, the enemy weapons leveled to his head, John stepped forward to the drop ship claiming a seat across from his Captain "Maybe it won't be so bad" he said in a dejected manner
Those words rang in John's head. Maybe it won't be so bad, Maybe he will be granted one more fight
