Hey so I had nothing to do and started playing this 'game' if it's even classified as one.

If you don't know about NationStates you basically create a nation based on beliefs and choices, every so often you get issues you're supposed to solve and it directly influences your country, to quote the website:

"NationStates is a nation simulation game. Create a nation according to your political ideals and care for its people. Or deliberately oppress them. It's up to you."

You might like Politics & War, it's a similar game, but with actual interactions with other player nations
Or, alternatively, RealPolitik, where you play as a single politician in a nation, with other player-controlled politicans
