At least here, people can train to be NCOs after a 4 month basic training conscription, which nets you a year of “”””service””””” total once you are done - but you still have 0 active duty experience

Pretty common in other armies too

huh

i thought you had to be promoted a few times to the NCO ranks and it was CO's that could just join the army immediately outranking everyone

No - you can start from the bottom and work your way to NCO, or be trained to it immediately

Its obviously the best NCOs you get from developing enlisted, but it takes too long in peacetime to be able to do it
