most barbers in my area at least can offer advice on what to do with your hair though so I'd recommend that first

putting that much gel into it just makes it unbearable

trust me i know from experience

just put a tiny amount of gel into the hair, push it back with your hands and avoid combing it at all costs, makes it look natural(ish) whilst still staying in place
