The game can run at a much higher graphics settings, but when the battles get much much larger - it has trouble. So I just have my graphics set to low to avoid trouble but entity animations set to high so I see all the units do their things.

Doesn't help when you play mortal empires and there are like 100 different factions and every turn you have to painstakingly wait through every single individual lord's move before it comes back to yours. It takes like 5-10 minutes for each fucking turn, so it's better to lower graphics so it runs quicker
