finally managed to get an empire title on ck3 without getting destroyed, daurama start but it took me three lives to get there
not really a big achievement but im happy lol

went with diplomacy on daurama to get chummy with everyone, crippled the surrounding kingdoms repeatedly with her heir via murder (a highlight was my leper child nearly killing my entire court with bubonic plague despite me executing her) then went back to diplomacy with my current character and vassalised/conquered the leftover counties to get over the realm limit for the empire title, pretty sure i have the strongest military rn

at this point you sorta expect that of assassins creed though

AC these days is about taking shit in, seeing all the details for what they are; or at least thats what i think - a lot of people just think the new games are garbage because they sorta left the old formula behind, but personally i think they wouldve tarnished the old formula by trying to continue anyway

leave the old formula to the old games, the new formula's damn good to me

yeah; yeah, even odyssey

honestly my main gripe with AC is that the whole main plot of assassins and templars is basically an afterthought after like AC 4

i agree

they ran the old formula into the ground

they kept adding new stuff, pretty much never removing anything until the games were a bloated frankenstein of features, taken down further by atrocious launces and myriads of performance issues, as well as killing the Current Day plot half way through their franchise

at the point they were at it was either keep going until the franchise stopped selling, or step back and try to innovate

While the new era of AC games still contain plenty of the Ubisoft™️ open world formula™️ it's at least different enough (also the varied time periods help here too)

IMO, the real strength of AC has always been their worlds, and I don't think they've failed on that front just yet

The newer AC's are alright, but I'm not a fan of the over the top arcade style combat they've gone for. Ideally I think there should be minimalistic hud elements and more weighty, realistic combat.

i hope that isnt in reference to the previous AC's

previous AC's were basically just 'counter, kill, counter, kill, counter, kill' with a few exceptions that didnt really take it far away from that baseline concept

i dont mind the new combat system honestly

nah I mean as in a new style not yet done before. Although despite it being outdated and rather simplistic, I still prefer the older style to the newer one, slower paced and more grounded combat that forced you to think more carefully about how you dealt with engagements. Had they expanded on that whilst keeping the same style I think it'd be better than what they have now
